hi i am wondering if anyone knows how to tighten the arm/ head  on my DW303  the blade seems to rock side to side a bit

You may need to replace that section. It's a wearable part. Are you sure your blade is in fully, and the screw is fully tightened?

 but it seems as the whole control arm is loose or both is there a way you can tell? can this hurt the saw  by leaving it like this for prolonged times?

Referring to your other post, if the gear's are worn down. It would cause havoc throughout the entire drive-train.
