I have just got a new dewalt 10" dual bevel sliding miter saw. My concern relates to the sliding rails. As the saw is pushed and pulled through the mechanism that holds the two rails at the back of the saw(without the saw turned on)a  very noticeable noise comes from this part of the saw. It is a rough sound. I was expecting a smooth nearly silent  motion from the bearings .  Is this normal. Could someone relate their experience with a similar saw?

That is not normal. First place I would look at is the screw that locks the rail. If it's not unscrewed all the way it will rub against the rails. If that's not the case, I would try to isolate the sound and see it you have something stuck somewhere it shouldn't be. If you still can't find it, I would return it and get a new one.
